In 2014, The Global Grid first published the Top 10 Landscape Architecture Jobs Search Websites ranking. We reviewed that year’s ranking and continued our search for the best job boards and websites to aide in a landscape architect’s job search. You’ll find three newcomers to this year’s list, including the New Zealand Institute of Landscape Architects, Council of Educators in Landscape Architecture and our very own The Global Grid Jobs. We utilized Alexa International rankings to determine each site’s positioning. You’ll find that over the course of the past four years some sites have gained (or decreased) in their ranking. Whether you’re a seasoned professional, fresh to the workforce or a student looking for an internship, we’re sure that there is a job for you within the sites on this list. Since some of these job boards are very geographically-specific, take note of the job search location of each site. Then, discover where your next job will take you.
The American Society of Landscape Architects maintains its positioning as the most visited website for landscape architecture jobs. On their current job board they’ve announced a new JobLink will be launched on April 18, 2018, so stay tuned for new updates - maybe even a new design? We’ll have to wait and see. All positions currently listed will be maintained in the current format until they expire. Jobs are currently sorted by state or international listings, but they concentrate primarily on jobs based in the United States. As a student member you can post your resume for recruiters, so take advantage of the multiple ways to connect with potential employers.
Land8: Landscape Architects Network has gone from the seventh position in 2014 to the second best website to browse for landscape architecture jobs based in the United States. Last year, Land8 bought Landscape Architects Network and redesigned its website, including an improved user experience and increased functionality for its jobs board. They also launched a Twitter feed specifically for Land8 events and jobs. Follow them and never miss a new Land8 posted job opportunity.
Over the past four years, Landscape Institute’s job board has jumped from fifth to the third best job board for landscape architects seeking jobs in the United Kingdom. The site has undergone an extensive redesign and greatly improved the functionality of their jobs board and offerings. You can search for your next job by keyword, location, or title. And by becoming a registered job seeker through their portal you can sign up for job alerts sent directly to your email inbox. What could be more convenient than that?
The Global Grid Jobs is a newcomer to other notable sites within this ranking. Landscape architecture positions from around the world can be searched by location and keyword. You can also stay apprised of new jobs by following their #theglobalgridjobs Twitter hashtag and joining their Weekly Local Urbanist News & Jobs email newsletter, where the latest positions are compiled and emailed directly to inboxes every Tuesday. While the majority of job boards listed within this ranking focus on a primary geography, The Global Grid Jobs is the perfect destination for your international landscape architecture job search.
The Ontario Association of Landscape Architects dropped from third place in 2014 to the fifth most visited website for landscape architecture jobs although they underwent an entire website redesign, improving the user experience. While the majority of the positions are Ontario-based, there are also a few located in British Columbia and Quebec, which makes this jobs board perfect for searching for a landscape architecture position within Canada.
The Australian Institute of Landscape Architecture’s job board was number four in 2014 but has dropped to sixth place four years later. Regardless, if you’re searching for a landscape architecture job in Australia, this is your destination. Not only is the site great for searching for a job, but if you’re interested in posting your qualifications for recruiters, there’s a place for that too. To post a resume placement ad, contact AILA.
Architecture Crossing has increased its ranking by one position this year, from eight to seventh place. The site boasts of being the “largest collection of architecture jobs on earth,” and while that’s their primary focus, a search for landscape architecture positions resulted in substantial results within the United States. Want your perfect job delivered straight to your inbox? Create your search and set-up a job alert that will send results directly to you. There’s also an opportunity to submit your resume for recruiters to review, increasing your chances of being matched with your next job.
8. Council of Educators in Landscape Architecture / International Job Search
A newcomer to this year’s ranking, the Council of Educators in Landscape Architecture offers landscape architects in academia the opportunity to find their next education-sector position anywhere in the world. Imagine the possibilities! While there aren’t a plethora of opportunities posted every week - or even every month, if this is your sector or you’re looking to teach abroad, be sure to bookmark this jobs board and visit often.
The British Columbia Society of Landscape Architects (BCSLA) dropped in their ranking, notably due to newcomers this year. In 2014 they were ranked sixth and this year they’re holding the ninth place in the most popular job board for landscape architects. This highly relevant and geographically-specific job board caters to those seeking positions in British Columbia, Canada. If you’d like to be noticed by recruiters in British Columbia, post your resume on the BCSLA website. Resumes expire after 60-days.
Another newcomer to this year’s ranking of the Top Landscape Architecture Jobs Search Websites is the New Zealand Institute of Landscape Architects. There’s no ability to search positions and there are few currently listed (at the time of publication), but with such a geographically-specific search, this site is invaluable for those seeking a job in New Zealand. If you’re a member of the New Zealand Institute of Landscape Architects an added perk is that when jobs are added to the site you’ll automatically receive an email notification.
