Every third Wednesday of the month, join our community of urban development, building professionals, and enthusiasts in an hour-long chat on Twitter, from 12:00 p.m. to 01:00 p.m. PT, to discuss a wide-range of urban topics and issues.

The Global Grid Twitter Chat is a conversation with peers and like-minded professionals. Our goal is to exchange ideas, explore solutions and learn from best practices within your community. Your local insights enrich the conversation and provide viewpoints that are necessary for the kind of robust dialogue we’re looking to achieve. Every month, we will cover the most highly requested topic by our readers and followers. We will also invite expert professionals or organization to co-host the chat; enabling a deeper conversation with field experts.

#TheGlobalGrid Twitter Chat

HOW DOES IT WORK?

One week prior to every chat date we’ll publish a pre-chat article on The Global Grid website. This introductory piece will provide the background for the upcoming Twitter chat. We hope that you’ll read each article and join the chat with plenty of local examples and questions to add to the conversation.

Participation is easy. Once you’re logged in using your Twitter account, follow @theglobalgrid, search and follow #TheGlobalGrid; a unique hashtag that identifies the chat and allows all of the chat’s questions and answers to be easily searched and found. You can also use a dedicated Twitter chat tool to follow and participate in #TheGlobalGrid chat, such as TweetChat, Tchat or TweetDeck.

At 12:00 p.m. PST, the chat starts. After introductions, The Global Grid poses questions for our co-host and participants to discuss. We will ask four to five questions and you have about 10 minutes to answer and discuss each of them.

Two things to keep in mind:

  1. Questions will be numbered (Q1, Q2, Q3…) and so should your answers (A1, A2, A3…), so that everyone in the conversation can follow your line of thought;
  2. To be included in the chat, make sure #TheGlobalGrid hashtag is added to all your tweeted responses.

With Twitter's new characters count limit increased to 280, there is definitely more room to express your views and write your statements. But even if this still seems a challenge, your ideas will flow along with the conversation, and we promise it will only get better with every new chat!

So follow us on Twitter, bookmark the third Wednesday of every month, or even better, add our Monthly Twitter Chat Calendar as a handy reminder - and join #TheGlobalGrid Twitter chat from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. PST.

We look forward to having you join our next chat on Wednesday, April 18th at 12:00 p.m. PT!
