Laura Paterson: Saying Goodbye to Global Site Plans and the Grid

For my final post, I’d like to thank everyone for reading my blogs over the last six months, I hope they brought a new and Scottish perspective to Global Site Plans; I certainly enjoyed writing about issues I care about.  Many thanks to Global Site Plans and especially Renée van Staveren for giving me this

For my final post, I’d like to thank everyone for reading my blogs over the last six months, I hope they brought a new and Scottish perspective to Global Site Plans; I certainly enjoyed writing about issues I care about.  Many thanks to Global Site Plans and especially Renée van Staveren for giving me this opportunity to take my first steps into blogging, I hope this internship will lead to further writing positions in the future.

As a blogger for Global Site Plans I had the opportunity to write about a range of renewable energy and refurbishment topics - both hot topics in 2012 in the United KingdomSince my blog on Scottish Renewable Energy targets, Donald Trump, who is building an Aberdeenshire golf course close to a proposed wind farm, has become involved in a Scottish Government enquiry into the issue, and will speak shortly in the Scottish Parliament!

My research on architecture websites gave me the opportunity to really consider what we, as architects, need to think about when publicising our industry online.  In these difficult economic times we need to maximise our chances of securing work and displaying our projects.

Reflecting back over my time, I have learned a lot about selecting topical subjects to write about, the discipline of keeping up-to-date with current events in my field and how to convey subjects in an easy to understand 300 words.  Sitting down to write my blogs on a Sunday afternoon every fortnight will be quite a habit to break. It has been a pleasure sharing my views with you - I wish everyone all the best for the future.
