On April 26 & 27th, 2012, the Faculty of Architecture of Mimar Sinan University of Fine Arts (Mimar Sinan Guzel Sanatlar Universitesi) will gather an array of experts from institutions such as universities, municipalities, NGO’s, as well as the disciplines of architecture, engineering, and design, together for the Second International Greenage Symposium: Sustainable Society and Green Economy.

The second symposium is geared towards an audience of local government officials, officers, councillors, and planners; municipal directors and staff; architects, engineers, urban planners, designers, landscape architects, sociologists; engineers; academics, and more; lawyers concentrating on municipal, insurance, environmental, construction, or civil law; professionals involved in land use planning; and construction and development company representatives, and more.

Among the topics to be discussed, in relation to sustainability and the green economy, are:

  • Eco-technologies;
  • Environmental ethics and philosophy;
  • Alternative energy sources, renewable energy at the scales of city, building, and products;
  • Green transportation;
  • Sustainable building stock;
  • Environmental rehabilitation;
  • Social sustainability;
  • Climate change;
  • and Green economy.

The First International Greenage Symposium, held in December 6-8, 2010, emphasized green economy based technologies, products, and services that play a key role in the transition towards sustainable development. The second symposium will continue the discussion of these highly relevant topics.

Global Site Plans is excited to be presenting at the Second International Greenage Symposium: Sustainable Society and Green Economy. As a participant of the Los Angeles Wilshire Center Business Improvement District’s (WCBID) ‘Cool District’ eco-charrette in March 2008, Renée van Staveren (Global Site Plans’ Principal) discovered ways in which the WCBID Cool Distict’s principles of deep building retrofits, and more, could greatly affect the reduction of Greenhouse Gas Emissions (GHG). The positive health and monetary benefits for BIDs in America and abroad are abundant. Renée van Staveren will present the history of the WCBID ‘Cool District’ initiative and how your business district could benefit from deep building retrofits.

If you are interested in attending the conference, or to learn more, please go to the Second International Greenage Symposium: Sustainable Society and Green Economy’s website. Early registration is until March 26th.

Global Site Plans looks forward to attending, and hopefully seeing you there.
