Looking back on my time spent writing for The Grid, I've realized that I have learned much more about my city than I ever could have imagined. The city of Pittsburgh is full of wonderful forms of urban design, including being a leader in such planning aspects as Historical Preservation, Green Building, and a booming growth in housing and industrial reuse. As I have researched all of these subjects throughout the past six months, I have grown to realize that Pittsburgh is an ever-evolving metropolitan wonder. This city has seen a dramatic change in the past hundred years, and will more than likely dramatically change again in the next hundred.

Being able to write about these issues, as well as learn about current and ongoing projects in the city, has been a rewarding experience which has enhanced my perception of the city I live in. Being able to connect with planners and architects on such projects as PlanPGH and the Almono Site have helped me get a glimpse into the world of planning from the designer's perspective, and has shown me what the future of Pittsburgh should look like in the near future.

Overall, my experience here at The Grid has been a great way to learn and experience my city in a different and unique way. The experiences that I have gained from writing about the different places in the city have opened my eyes to many different neighborhoods and cultures, all mixed together in this vast city. Hopefully these experiences will help lead me to a rewarding future in the Urban Planning and Environmental Design profession, and will assist me in my abilities to help the citizens in this great city.
